Nuvve continues to demonstrate the real-world application and viability of vehicle-to-grid (V2G) as a key component in the fight against climate change. As we’ve reported previously, the E-Flex project is one way Nuvve is doing this.

The latest fleet to sign up for the E-Flex trial is the United Kingdom’s largest 100% commercial electric vehicle (EV) delivery service, Gnewt. The urban parcel delivery service provider will power its fleet of EVs using V2G technology as part of the project’s commitment to explore the commercial opportunity of V2G in providing energy and services back to the grid when EVs are parked.

Gnewt is the perfect test fleet for V2G since it is looking to maximize the way its electric fleet operates. Instead of charging as soon as the EVs plug in, often at peak electricity demand times, the charging of the fleet can be planned for and managed more strategically using Nuvve’s V2G platform. Gnewt can save money on electric bills, help stabilize the grid, continue its commitment to reducing CO2 emissions, and eventually earn revenue on energy markets.

Commercial V2G operations in the United Kingdom, France, Belgium, and Italy, are being managed by Dreev, the joint venture between Nuvve and EDF Group. The E-Flex project results will help further the use cases for V2G in Europe and around the world.

The E-Flex project is looking to connect 100 EVs in real-world settings. If you are a fleet owner or manager and are interested in signing up for the trial, visit https://www.e-flex.co.uk/join-us.

About E-Flex

E-Flex is a London-based vehicle-to-grid demonstration project, using active electric vehicles in real-world fleets to prove the value of V2G technology. E-Flex will drive vehicle-to-grid (V2G) technology from theory to commercial reality and demonstrate the role V2G can play in supporting the transition of energy demands from cities and energy services towards a zero-carbon future.

The consortium comprises world-leading expertise from seven partners from across the technology, academic, energy and public sectors, including Cisco, Cenex, Nuvve, the Greater London Authority, Transport for London, Imperial College London and E-Car Club.
