Nuvve and AFA JCDecaux Celebrate Six Years of Commercial Business

Originally posted February 2022, updated December 2022

AFA JCDecaux is the largest supplier of outdoor advertising equipment in Denmark. Six years ago, they tapped Nuvve to launch V2G operations to charge its electric fleet and minimize its environmental footprint while achieving additional EV charging savings and revenue generation through the optimal usage of the energy stored in each vehicle.

AFA JCDecaux has seen the benefits of V2G from their continuous six years at their site in Hvidovre, outside of Copenhagen, and recently expanded Nuvve’s V2G operations to fleets in Hasselager just outside of Århus. By going beyond smart charging, Nuvve’s V2G technology platform helps reduce the total cost of ownership of electric vehicle fleets while enabling EVs to store renewable energy, supporting responsible business operations and a greener planet. Through its V2G platform, Nuvve has delivered value to other stakeholders including reducing fossil fuel dependency in the region to support Denmark’s climate goals and helping power providers better harness renewables.

“AFA JCDecaux’s forward-thinking has helped it become a true environmental leader, and we’re proud to partner with them,” said Gregory Poilasne, chairman and CEO of Nuvve. “I want to personally thank Tonny Pagter and the entire AFA JCDecaux team for trusting Nuvve’s team and technology with their fleet charging needs for the past six years.”

AFA JCDecaux’s commitment to sustainability isn’t without challenge. The company uses Nissan vans (eNV200’s) which all have 24kWh batteries and a somewhat limited range. Snowstorms and temperatures dropping below freezing during winter in Denmark reduce the range further, but Nuvve’s intelligent trip scheduling ensures that the EVs are charged precisely to the customers’ requirements so the drivers can complete their daily tasks without having range anxiety. To ensure operational continuity while achieving its carbon emissions goals, AFA JCDecaux turned to Nuvve for a V2G technology platform that was resilient and proactively managed EV assets so that they can perform their daily driving duties.

“We’ve been pioneering innovative, green solutions for years – both in our products and our operations,” said Tonny Pagter, quality, QSE manager at AFA JCDecaux. “V2G has delivered on both the sustainability side and the financial side. Since our first interactions with Nuvve more than six years ago, they’ve been a trusted technology partner that aligns with our vision and eco-friendly values while delivering world-class customer service by monitoring the charging stations 24/7, fixing issues, and making sure our EVs are always charged for our drivers come rain, sleet, or snow..”
