Seeking to accelerate the UK’s transition to a zero-carbon energy system

Project LEO (Local Energy Oxfordshire) will demonstrate a neutral “Market Integrator” that provides real-time information to allow a local energy market place to function effectively whilst maintaining network integrity (DSO services). The project will have a variety of plug-in projects (solar, heat networks, smart neighborhoods, micro-grids, EV and transport hubs, new housing developments and large flexible loads) that will demonstrate new models for DER investment.

Nuvve is responsible for aggregating EVs, both unidirectionally and bidirectionally, to provide local flexibility to the network operator and help development local energy markets.

Will I still be able to drive my EV if I use V2G?

Yes! These charging stations prioritize charging your vehicle so you have enough energy to drive according. Just let us know what your driving needs are when you register your profile.

What vehicles can use these V2G chargers?

Nissan LEAF (Model Year 2013 and newer) and Nissan e-VN200 can perform bidirectional, V2G charging.

How does V2G help the environment?

These V2G stations allow your vehicle batteries to act as storage units for renewable energy sources when too much is being produced and allows that energy to be sent back to the grid when renewable energy production is low.

Does V2G impact an electric vehicle’s battery?

-Demonstrate that unidirectional and bidirectional EVs in Oxfordshire can participate in DSO markets
-Get real value from vehicles participating in local flexibility markets
-Combine flexible vehicle resources with other assets such as microgrids, solar, battery storage, and large flexible loads


Distribution System Operator (DSO) Services to be trialed with electric vehicles:
1. Flexibility services exchange: helping DSOs procure flexibility to defer network investment, manage outages and congestion on the networks
2. Local capacity exchange: helping lower the cost of connecting new generation to the network by sharing/trading existing capacity rather than reinforcing
3. Off-market trading: enabling peer-to-peer trading between flex operators or within their portfolio
